TAMOXIFEN 

Otherwise known as Nolvadex.

This drug is a potent non-steroidal anti-estrogen. It is intended for use in estrogen dependent tumours, i.e. breast cancer.

Tamoxifen Citrate is the active ingredient, which is a potent anti estrogen, which helps in the field of bodybuilding for blocking the actions of estrogens and in the prevention of gynecomastia.  Many use all the way through a cycle where as some will only use it when the signs of gynecomastia start to show. These signs are slight itchiness / soreness of the nipple area and treatment in the early stage is critical to stop ‘Gyno’.

Also these affects can occur when androgen levels are too low, making estrogen the predominant hormone. This can occur when endogenous androgens have been suppressed by the prolonged use of exogenous steroids in combination with cutting of these exogenous sources.

Tamoxifen works by competitively binding to target estrogen sites like the breast. This drug is not toxic nor have any side effects been seen in athletes who used the drug as an anti-estrogen. This drug is the most popular anti-estrogen among steroid users by far. Many bodybuilders take 10-20mg of Nolvadex each day for the last month prior to a bodybuilding contest to help reduce water retention and increase muscle hardness.

When mixed with a little Proviron the combination works extremely well by combating estrogen in two different ways. Proviron works as an anti-aromatise, thus slowing the conversion of aromatising steroids to estrogen and Tamoxifen simply blocks any estrogen from causing problem.

It is a wise move to always have Tamoxifen to hand while on any cycle should problems arise so to administer as soon as any signs (such as sore / tender or itchy nipples) show. This way one can avoid any permanent gynecomastia (lump behind the nipples) or “bitch tit” as described earlier.

Most reported a dosage of 10mg to 20mg daily got the job done.

Tamoxifen can also used in conjunction with Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) for PCT (Post cycle treatment) to aid the rehabilitation of ones own Testosterone production.
